Baton Rouge rapper Lil Boosie was transported to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison Friday morning after being indicted for murder Thursday afternoon. Lil Boosie, whose real name is Torrence Hatch, was taken from the Hunt Correctional Institute in St. Gabriel to the Louisiana State Police Headquarters in Baton Rouge. Garry Shider, a guitarist for the pioneering group Parliament-Funkadelic, has died at the age of 56.
Shider was born in Plainfield, N.J., and joined Parliament-Funkadelic full-time in 1972. He co-wrote a number of the group’s songs, and is featured on such P-Funk hits as “Cosmic Slop” (1973) and “One Nation Under a Groove” (1978).
